The Massacre of Mankind (2017) is a science fiction story by Stephen Baxter conceived as a sequel to H.G. Wells' 1898 classic The War of the Worlds. It begins 13 years after the original novel in 1907, from the point of view of Miss Elphinstone, the ex-sister-in-law of the narrator of War of the Worlds. It was written by Stephen Baxter, who also wrote the sequel to Wells' novel The Time Machine, called The Time Ships.
