History
Loyola ITI is a work of the Karnataka Province of the Society of Jesus. This society (the "Jesuits") were founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius of Loyola, who came from that castle town in northern Spain. The Jesuits began their educational efforts in Karnataka over 100 years ago, with a focus on the less advantaged youth. Loyola ITI originated with non-formal courses in areas like tailoring, carpentry, welding, and driving. In response to the need in local industry the present courses in Electronics and Motor Vehicle Mechanics were developed. The earlier courses were replaced by new non-formal courses in computer applications, automobile mechanisms, and refrigeration and air-conditioning.
